aeroras: ([sora & kairi] dance together)
It's a nice evening out back behind the bar.

With the porch-lights on (softly illuminating the grass), and the universe swirling about (in beautiful colours of purples, pinks and blues) above them, it is one of those picture-perfect nights, the sort one might kill to have a camera for, if only to record permanently what the eyes only retain for so long.

Sora is out by the lake with Kairi, both seated beside each other. He is staring at the reflections of the water, each gentle wave rippling after the next.

It's peaceful.

It reminds him of home, a bit.
aeroras: ([sora & riku] respecting; look up)
Sora is asleep on his bed, limbs outstretched and tangled in blankets and sheets. His mouth is slightly open and there might even be a bit of saliva hanging out of the corner.

The room is dark, save for a crack of light from beneath the doorway leading to the hall.

And next to him, on the floor -- since Sora insisted he get the bed (after all it was his room they were in) -- is Riku. They decided, for old time's sake, to have a sleepover of sorts. It's been years since he's seen his best friend for longer than a couple hours at a time.

Should have been fun, only...the younger of the two boys tuckered out early. It isn't his fault, but he's been feeling extra tired lately, what with all the otherworldy adventures he has on a daily basis.
aeroras: (relaxed; content; crossing arms)
A thirteen and a half year old Sora lies prostrated beneath the humid shade of the Paopu tree, his arms and legs spread out as though he will attempt to create a sand-angel. His eyes are closed.

It's a hot summer day -- one of the hottest ones so far! -- and he isn't really sure what to do with himself. Staying at home, indoors, was not an option; it is far too bright and sunny. It would be such a waste.

He can hear the distant sound of waves crashing and sweeping across the shore, and the occasional buzzing of insects around him. Everything is a little numb and foggy, and the inevitable feeling of sleep begins to beckon him despite all circumstances.
aeroras: (always right except when i'm wrong)
Sora rushes into the bar in a direct path through the snow, not really looking to check whether Riku is following behind him or not (though he's sure he is), then up the staircase leading to his room. He would have stayed downstairs but the need to get out of his soaking wet coat and into something dry, as well as something warm (like his blanket), is a top priority.

He unlocks the door, flinging his soaking-wet mittens on the bed before peeling the wet coat off of him, making a sound of disgust.

At least his teeth have stopped chattering!
aeroras: ([the past] riku & sora; best friends)
Sora lies on his back, arms crossed behind his head as he stares up at the sky. His eyes grow heavier and heavier with each passing moment, slowly...until the sound of the wind and the general soundtrack of nature envelopes him, surrounding him, blurring his other senses.

His eyelids finally shut, and he finds himself dozing off, random images and thoughts floating about in his mind, all lacking direction...

[Note: Follows this.]

Ah, Twilight Town.

He hasn't been here for what feels like ages. This entire thing feels so familiar--his being reunited with Donald and Goofy, being in a place he knows well enough in search of his closest friends. Now he's got an extra hand -- Roxas, of course -- and the thought reassures Sora, ridding him of any possible doubts. There's something strange about Roxas that Sora just can't place. True, they have a connection -- that much he knows for sure -- but there's something else. Something...familiar. Something...that makes him feel like he's himself again -- fully.

Whatever it is, Sora knows that the four of them, with their strength combined, can take on any Heartless or Nobody the Organization decides to throw at them.

Sora leads the group up along the familiar marketplace area, his arms crossed behind his head. He looks up at the buildings, at the setting sun that bathes everything in a warm orange light, and then from side to side. It's quiet here, he realizes, but he doesn't feel anything particularly ominous about this stillness.

He can hear the sounds of his companions' footsteps behind him and the distant chirping of birds from somewhere, but no one speaks yet. Perhaps it's time for Sora to break the silence.

"I wonder where Kairi might be," he muses aloud.
aeroras: (younger sora; amaze; stare)
Sora finds himself walking through the darkness. He raises his head up and around him to take in his surroundings, but it's difficult to make anything out in clear definition. He can feel the crevices and molds of walls on either side of him, which he touches with his hands, but his eyes cannot help him. The sounds of his feet echoing against the hard, flat paved ground reach his ears. They hum in his mind, making him more aware of just how...empty this place is.

He gets a chill that crawls up and down his spine. He doesn't like it here. It's nothing like he's ever dreamed before; this place is unrecognizable.

Step after step, Sora eventually finds himself reaching the end of the long black path; it opens into a wide space like a central square. The sky--dark and ominous, filled with cloud--blankets this environment, almost suffocating, with its looming buildings that fade into it, disappearing from his vision. Neon lights flash in pinks and greens, forming nonsensical words and shapes that Sora can't understand. And somehow its' light doesn't provide him with a sense of comfort. Instead, it is almost swallowed up by the darkness.

Around him, the air is still and filled with dark feelings: dread, anxiety, depression, gloom. If a nightmare could be described, lived in, this place--whatever it was--would capture it perfectly.

"Goofy?" he calls, hearing his voice reverberate against the buildings. "Donald?"

Kairi? ...Riku? he thinks.
aeroras: (fond memory; together; kairi)

After all of that homework and those chores his mum made him do (even though he said he was busy!), Sora isn't in any fit mood to do anything but lie in his bed and sulk. Being eleven is hard work, and he shouldn't be expected to do so much in one day (and stay indoors!) when all he really wants to do is see his friends and play by the beach.

Sora stomps his way out of his house a half hour later (much to his mother's chagrin: "Sora, what did I tell you about stomping around the house?"), and finding a spare branch, makes his way to the shore. He's wearing his sandals and even though there's a stain on his white t-shirt, he refuses to change it.

Dragging the branch along the soft dirt, he traces a never-ending line. The sun is still in the sky, shining brightly, but in a few hours he knows it'll start to set, and he'll have to go back home. He suddenly wonders what he's going to have for dinner, and wonders if he'll have to help set the table too.

Moments later, Sora finds himself drawing near to the beach. He can hear the waves crashing, and he smell the salty tang in the air. It's his favourite place to be, and he can't think of a better location to let his frustrations be carried off in the waves of the ocean than here.

The paopu tree is empty; he half expects to see Riku there, as is usual...but nothing. Slowly, Sora draws closer to the sand and takes a seat, his legs sprawled out in front of him, his palms flat on the ground allowing him to lean back slightly to stare at the blueness of the sky.

It feels weird when he's all alone.

[Context: After meeting Roxas in Milliways, Sora (still on his quest) accepts Roxas' help and the two of them go through Sora's door only to end up...]

When Sora passes through the door, he expects to find himself back in the realm of darkness, as he had been before he found the bar, and found Roxas.

But to his surprise, things are quite the opposite. It's bright. And there's the sound of a very familiar hum, like that of an engine. Slowly, his vision becomes clearer and the environment seems to come together in a mesh of colour and solid lines and shapes, as if being drawn by some greater force than him. Sora whirls around, partly expecting to find something ominous or malicious to shatter this peaceful entrance; part of him doesn't know whether to accept that this--everything--is real or fake.

All he sees of his surroundings are very particular things, telling him that this is, indeed, very real. He's in a place he hasn't seen for so long, now...It's the Gummi Ship. It's controls are left untouched, the screens are blank but active, and there is a very distant sound of muffled voices from somewhere beyond the cockpit.

"Whoa," is all that comes out of his mouth. He looks behind him, noticing a startled Roxas.

Grinning, Sora relaxes. "I guess it worked after all, huh?" he says cheerfully. "Welcome to the Gummi Ship."
aeroras: (Default)
Sora remembers and when he does, it feels so real, it's as though he's stepping back into his memory...

He feels short. Shorter than he thinks he really is. There's a different jaunt in his step, and he's running. Running and breathing hard, and yelling, "Riku! Riku, wait!" with a wooden sword in one small hand, and a clumsy rectangular piece of driftwood (a shield) in the other.

The day is bright, tranquil and warm and there's a comforting breeze that drifts through the air assuring its inhabitants that this place--Destiny Islands--is safe. It's home.

The sound of waves along the beach would soothe anyone who wasn't trying to chase after his best friend with heavy wooden props to weigh him down. The shield is large and heavy and it clunk clunk clunks as he drags it along with him. The silver-haired boy, turning and grinning some distance away from him sticks out his tongue and calls out to him, but this boy can't hear it.

It's just the two of them on the beach with the white sand and the sparkling waters. It's their secret place where they play together after school, pretending they're pirates, or sometimes even knights. Sora likes playing knights. He can pretend he's saving a princess, and while Riku often allows him to play the princess' saviour, sometimes Sora feels like it's Riku who wants to save her instead.

Today they're going to play knights, and that is why he has a shield and sword. It's taken many beatings (he's not as good as Riku when it comes to all of this stuff) but he's determined to win a fight eventually. He'll be courageous, just as courageous as his best friend.

"All right, Riku! I'm ready!" Sora calls, his wooden sword in hand.
aeroras: (pensive; looking down; thinking)
Sora scribbles into his leather-bound journal, leaving a couple of pages blank.

Without Jiminy to do this for me, it's gonna be hard, but I'm going to try and sum up what has happened so far.

Instead of ending up in another world that needs my help, I ended up here in I don't know much about it, but a lot has happened and I've met a lot of different people.

I can't find Goofy or Donald here, and I know that Kairi or Riku aren't here either. There are a lot of people who come here from different worlds, too. Some are from different galaxies, and others are from completely different dimensions. It's really cool that a place like this bar, this Milliways, could exist. But here I am. I'm not surprised, though. I mean, yeah, I'm surprised to meet all these different people, but I'm not too surprised I ended up at this bar.

Outside the window, the universe resets itself in this big explosion of stars. It's really cool. But it's also really scary, too.

Anyway, one of the great things that happened while I was here was that I met up with King Mickey. It's been a while since I last saw him, but I was outside and I saw him training. It was so...relieving to see him, especially since Donald or Goofy or anyone familiar wasn't here with me. Seeing Mickey was like seeing a connection with where I came from. He told me that time stops as long as I stay in this bar, so I'm glad. I know I have to leave soon, but I...just don't know what to do yet. I don't know how to find Kairi or Riku, and I feel like I've been rushed this whole time, so coming here feels like I'm supposed to stay and recharge.

I forgot to ask the King if he'd seen Goofy or Donald anywhere, or Kairi or Riku for that matter because our meeting was really short.

Another really good (and weird?) piece of news was that I met a boy who's kinda been a mystery to me. The last time I 'saw' him was in the picture of him and his friends (I met them in Twilight Town) but I feel like I know him somehow. His name's Roxas. I knew that before I'd even really met him. It's weird. He told me he's had all these dreams about me--and he proved it, too. He knows a lot about me, so much so that it's kind of weird. I also know a bit about him without realizing it until I've told him. He seemed really unsure about me at first, and really distant--kinda like Riku, actually--but now he seems okay. He's a really cool kid--and apparently he can use the Keyblade too. The only people I know who can besides me is Riku and the king. Anyway, Roxas even offered to help me rescue Kairi from the Organization! The only problem is that he can't leave the bar yet. His door hasn't shown up.

The doors are really strange in this bar. There's one that leads to the back where there's a lake and everything (I had a really weird conversation about the Nobodies and hearts with this Bright Shiner guy called Yrael outside...), but the other door is supposedly the one that opens back to wherever you come from. If you can't see your door, then it means you're 'Bound', which I think means that you're stuck in the bar until it she lets you out. The bar here is different, too. The Bar seems to be this special magical bar that understands what you want, and gives you whatever you order. It's really cool.

Anyway, if the bar doesn't let Roxas out, then I think I have an idea that will let him come with me anyway. After talking to Bob (he's from inside a computer, like Tron! And apparently he knows Tron, too! I wonder if Tron knows Bob...I should ask the next time I see him...) I had this idea. He told me that sometimes you can go into other people's worlds by going through their doors. Of course you have to have permission, I think (like, you can't just open someone else's door), but if it works, maybe Roxas can just come through my door. We're both from the same world anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I hope I can meet the King again and ask him some questions before I leave, but I am really growing restless. I do want to leave the bar really soon. I don't really know how I'm going to find Kairi, but I've been okay so far, so I'm sure it'll be a piece of cake. And with Roxas helping out, it'll be even better. My Keyblade's fixed (thanks to this girl I met; her name's Suzi), and I feel like I had more than enough rest.

He lets out a breath, then closes the book.
aeroras: ([irl] whats that?)
Sora stirs, caught between the realm of consciousness and the realm of dream.

It's been the first time in what felt like years since he'd had a decent night's sleep. But when he thinks he's awakened, opening his eyes, he doesn't see Goofy or Donald. Wherever he is, he's alone.

"Goofy?" he calls. "Donald?"

He sits up and rubs his eyes, then stretches his arms. He looks to his surroundings, suddenly remembering everything that had happened...the dark portal he'd seen the King jump through.

"He's gone..."

He stands up abruptly, quickly running from left to right, as everything rushes back into his memories.

"Is she that important to you?"

Yeah. More than anything.

Then he remembers Maleficent. And the realm of darkness. The Heartless. Organization XIII.

"Maybe everything we've done...maybe it was all for nothing." He feels helpless. "What am I supposed to do if I can't use the Keyblade?"

He falls to his knees and shuts his eyes, slamming one hand against what he thinks is the ground, though he can't tell. All around him, as he opens his eyes once more, it's black.

Goofy suddenly comes up behind him, followed closely by Donald. There's a sort of relief that floods through him upon seeing his friends, one that makes him feel like no matter where he is--darkness or light--he's going to be okay.

"Sora," Goofy says, "I think ya have to use it. If we don't fight 'em, the Heartless'll keep on hurtin' folks."

Sora nods. "You're right..." His voice sounds like an echo to his ears.

Goofy stretches a hand towards him as though to help him up. Sora reaches out, but Goofy's form suddenly becomes vapour, a wisp of green and yellow and black.

"Goofy?" Sora frowns. "What's...going on?"

"Use your Keyblade, Sora!" Donald screeches from somewhere far away from him.

His Keyblade appears, and Sora swings it in a circular motion, raising it upwards. Something locks into place, and something else opens.

"Wait...not yet. I gotta look for Kairi....!"
